We are often asked when in the year it is best to visit us and Vaxholm. It is always difficult to answer. Every season has its charm and whether the sun is shining, the wind is blowing or the snow is falling, there is always something to do. Especially if you love being outdoors. Around Vaxholm there is fantastic nature that you can easily explore both on foot and on water. The fact that the island also has a center with restaurants, cafes and shops that are open all year round means that there is something for most people.

Explore the Bogesund Nature Reserve.

Bogesund Nature Reserve is known for its species-rich flora and fauna. There are miles of trails for those who feel the urge. Bring a packed lunch and you can stay out all day. We can arrange both a picnic basket and a packed lunch or barbecue if you wish. We are also happy to accompany you as guides along the way if you do not want to go on your own. Take a walking tour of the city.

Explore Vaxholm's oldest neighborhood. See the old fishing cottages in Norrhamnen, the remains of the armored battery on "Kullarna" and dream away to the summer life of Stockholm society in the bathhouse park. Walk on your own or with a guide if you want to know more about Vaxholm's history.

Visit our Castle.

The Vaxholm fortress and the defense of the entrance to Stockholm, is the reason why Vaxholm exists. In summer, you can take the boat across the strait and feel the wings of history. A visit to the fortress museum will take you back to 1890, when the fort was like a small community of its own, populated by high-ranking military officers, soldiers, officers' wives, children, dogs, maids and prisoners, and offers an exposé of Swedish defense history. Open from May to September.

If you want to exercise.

If you prefer the gym, group fitness or yoga, it is only a few blocks away from our B&B. You can buy the training cards from us. Tell us before you come if you are interested in it and we will prepare so that the training card is ready when you arrive.

In and around Vaxholm there are nice roads, tracks and paths if you want to combine your vacation with a run. Ask us and we will show you a loop that suits the distance you are looking for.

Enjoy sea kayaking.

Vaxholm is surrounded by fantastic paddling waters. So why not take the opportunity for a day of kayaking while you're here? If you are an experienced paddler you can rent one of our two kayaks, we will help you put them in at the jetty just below our house. If you are more inexperienced or want to be sure to reach the most beautiful paddling routes, we recommend that you instead book paddling with a guide when you make your booking.

Book one of our bikes if you want to see more of the surroundings. As a guest you have an extra favorable price and of course you have access to the bike throughout the day so you do not have to rush back from the excursion.

Fish for perch.

Borrow one of our rods and go fishing at the jetty. With a bit of luck, you'll bring home a perch or two for dinner. In Vaxholm it is allowed to fish with hand gear from land, as long as you are not on someone else's property. Would you rather fish from a boat? Join us for a trip.
